Mark your calendars: an open house will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 7 to 9 p.m. at City Hall Council Chambers (91 E Central Ave Belgrade, MT 59714) to provide an opportunity for Belgrade community members to learn about the Safety Action Plan and to give feedback regarding transportation safety in Belgrade. All are welcome to stop by at any time. No formal presentation will be given.

The City of Belgrade was awarded a US Department of Transportation (USDOT) Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Planning & Demonstration Grant. This funding supports development of a comprehensive, well-defined strategy to prevent roadway fatalities and serious injuries through a Safety Action Plan (SAP) for the Belgrade Planning Area. Transportation survey responses, public feedback, and traffic data analysis will inform the coming safety plan recommendations.

Community feedback will then inform a draft plan to be reviewed and finalized by the City of Belgrade and partnering agencies later this spring. The Safety Action Plan's recommendations will include a toolkit of safety treatments for any transportation related improvement (roadways, pedestrian facilities, sidewalks, trails, intersection treatments, etc.) within the Belgrade Planning Area. The City of Belgrade will seek short-term and long-term opportunities to implement the Safety Action Plan as funding becomes available. A timeline for funding allocation has not yet been determined, meaning that any recommended projects for the Belgrade Planning Area will incrementally take place.
